A freshwater fish also known as “rainbow fish”, named after their bright, vibrant colors. Tetra fish span over 150 different species with a wide variation between the different species. Some species are fat, some are skinny, some are spotted, others are striped, some are neon colored whereas others are multi-colored, the genetic variation between different tetra fish species is huge.
Tetra fish are generally smaller in size compared to many other species and they like to form schools. They are keen swimmers and not shy from showing off their bright colors, they can often be seen swimming around in jolts at the middle of the fish tank.
Some tetra fish are known to be quite aggressive, they will not hesitate to attack fish of other species, especially long-finned species such as the Zebra Danio.
Female tetra fish are generally larger than the males.
